In discussing BHDM’s tented space for DIFFA BY DESIGN, principal creative director Dan Mazzarini points to the inspiration they found in the memorial quilts that lined the National Mall in 1987 in recognition of those who had lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. “A patchwork of quilts spanning 3 miles echoed the voices of the dreamers whose lives ended far too soon,” the designer notes. “Thirty-five years later, as we are all asked to be resilient during change, we are in turn given the opportunity to write our own future and are given the precious ability to be dreamers once again.”
