Min Hua Liang and Brick McMenomy from Perkins Eastman, together with Matteo Calisesi of FLORIM, discuss the space their companies collaborated on for DIFFA BY DESIGN: Fluidity. The booth design, with its rigid exterior and complex, fluid interior, reflects on the idea of our power to evolve, in thought and action, toward mutual respect. The companies note that, just as we come from many cultures and beliefs, our sculpture blends diverse materials, methods, and makers. Hand-painted fabric by an Alpha Workshop artist, Richard Zimmer, lines the spiraling steel frame of the space, while Florim porcelain walls seem to bend and curve within a structure that promotes both movement and contemplation.
